World Biological Diversity Day Mugs

The first time my family went to see the zoo was about five years ago. The kids were only four and five then, but their interest in animals never faltered since. Last year, I went back to the zoo to get some animal-related gifts for the two children. I gave them custom promotional mugs with animal pictures on them. When I bought those items, I thought that I had good gift choices. I was right. My kids were so happy with what I gave them that they planned to personalize the items in the house to make them look like animals. I didn’t stop them because as a parent, I would love to see my kids have a hobby and have fun doing it.
Their first project was to create custom promotional barwares and carafes. They painted a picture of a lion with the word ‘dad’ below it. Another one was made with a picture of a tiger and ‘mom’ below it. I really liked what they did, but there was more to come.
They painted more and more of our items. All the mugs in the house now have a different color. Now, all their friends have their own mug in the cupboard.
As if they were not satisfied, the kids even made custom promotional coaster and drink holders apparently to “match” with all the mugs that they did. Our dining table started to become a scene in the safari, with all the animals sitting in there.
I tried to talk them into stopping with the whole hobby, but I can’t. They told me that they will be doing more of those mugs for the upcoming World Biological Diversity Day. My hands are tied. I guess I just have to buy more mugs. Plain ones.
